The parish of St Mary’s, Dukinfield, is in the Catholic Diocese of Shrewsbury. Dukinfield is a small town in the Metropolitan Borough of Tameside in Greater Manchester, just over 6 miles east of the city of Manchester. Being at the centre of Tameside, it is surrounded by the towns of Droylsden, Ashton, Mossley, Stalybridge, Longdendale, Hyde, Denton and Audenshaw. The origin of the name Dukinfield is thought to be from the old English “Duce feld” meaning “open land of the ducks”.
If you live in, or have recently moved into our area and would like to join us in our worship and other parish activities, please contact us, or just come along to the church, where you will be greeted with a warm welcome.
The parish of St Paul in Hyde is now being administered from St Mary’s parish following the retirement of Father Denis Maher in 2015. Early in 2016, it was decided to have just one website covering both St Paul's and St Mary's parishes.
Hyde is a town in the foothills of the pennines. A 30 minute drive brings you to some stunning countryside.
The Parish church was opened in 1848 and currently has a population of 2790 souls.
Saint Paul’s is one of three churches situated about the furthest away geographically from the home of our bishop Mark in the Diocese of Shrewsbury, a diocese consisting of a hundred and eleven parishes.

The parishes of St Paul and St Mary have come together under the pastoral care of Fr Oliver O'Doherty. The website is an opportunity for both parishes to share information and resources with each other. We look forward to being together, praying together, working together and building on our shared faith and vision for the future as we continue on our journey.
